Help Shape Climate Responsive Counselling
Please join IAC in a research study in partnership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Open University (OU). Your participation in this survey, which will focus on collaborating on climate responsive counseling in the face of global impact, will support further collaboration and resources, as well as identify areas for future research.
Climate change is recognised globally to be affecting all aspects of people’s lives. Mental health issues are expected to increase with continued global warming across the world. Increasing numbers of people across age groups are concerned about the impact of climate change themselves and on the lives of their children. Vulnerable communities such as those with pre-existing health conditions, young people, indigenous peoples, and others who tend to be underserved in their society, are more affected (World Health Organisation, 2022).
The aims of this study are to map out the scope and range of activity undertaken by national counselling/psychotherapy membership organisations globally as well as exploring the nature and range of issues relating to climate change that are raised by their numbers.
