Building Connections to Combat the Loneliness Epidemic
According to a recent report by the WHO, loneliness is now a global public health concern, affecting 1 in 6 people and contributing to over 870,000 deaths each year. The findings reveal that strong social connections not only improve mental health but also can reduce the risk of serious physical illnesses and early death. Youth, older adults, and marginalized groups are especially vulnerable, with loneliness linked to poor academic performance, lower income, and increased health risks.
